Backgroud:
Kael joined the Marine Corps right out of high school. After a year in the Corps as a rifleman, he was finally accepted to the aviation unit. There he trained night and day in preparation for flying the F/A-18 Hornet, and the B-2 Spirit. It was during his time at the flight academy he met James Connelly, thrown together repeated times for training as the 2 man crew of the B-2. With the workload, they became tight, and near the end of training as the barracks were switched up, and the assigned teams formed Reaper, the call sign given to him by commanding officers because he was one of the hightest scoring marksmen with rifle and bomb, and Pops (James...the oldest man to go through the avation program in that class) were paired up indefinitely. They graduated near the top of their class, with new ranks (Lt.), and were shipped out to Iraq after a 2 week leave.

In Iraq, Reaper and Pops flew several missions together, and apart. It was on a reconasance flight in a B-2 that they were shot down. Both men survived the ensuing crash, ejecting from the cockpit. They survived undetected amidst enemy, for several days. Finally they were stopped, a stray bullet tore through Reaper's shoulder, and they were slowed down, finally having to stop running, and were captured by enemy forces. They were taken to a POW camp, never mentioned on any CNN news report. The men languished away for months holding on to their humor because they were still together. The were questioned frequently, but nothing so sever as what they would finally endure. Finally in mid 2005 they were separated. They both went to solitary confinement and were interrogated without end for several days. One day, the guards removed Reaper from his cell, throwing him into an even smaller holding room. Someone else was there, but he couldn't tell who. When the lights came on, it was Pops, he was alive, but neither man could reach the other, they were both chained, on opposite ends of the room. For three days Reaper was chained in the room with Pops having to watch him be tortured to the point of death. When he was about to die, the interagators would stop, provide barely adequate medical attention and then return the next day to start again. Finally the day came for Pops life to end, the captors walked in, holding knives and jeering at the American's. They cut Pops up almost beyond the point of recognition finally ending the tortured screams when the cut his throat. Reaper wasn't given time to rest, almost immeaditaly after they removed Pops' body from the room, they came after him. The next day the 11th Battalion of the Marine Corps rolled into the yard, liberating the whole camp. Kael will never forgive himself for living when James didn't. (June 19, 2005)

He was sent to Europe for medical attention and debriefing after the traumatic event. During his stint in a German hospital the nightmares began, he relived his stay in the camp night after night, specifically those days when Pops was under the gun. During the day he would slip into times where he disassociated from the rest of the ward, his eyes clouding over, he relived the events day and night, always at different angels, different times. The doctors gave him the diagnosis of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder. After being brought back to the States in early 2006, he was finally discharged from the Corps in April, citing sever mental problems as the reason for their actions.

Personality:
Kael is almost always serious, hardly ever showing a real smile or laugh. He is prone to strong bouts of rage at times, and won't talk about his time spent overseas or in the Corps. He wears the dogtags simply out of habit. He finds it hard to have any sort of feelings towards anyone, espically his friends and family from before the war.

This journal is completely fictious, as is Kael. It's all part of my vivid imagination. I have no connection to Ryan Reynolds, I merely use his image for this character (he's amazing hot as King from Blade Trinity...what can I say??). Kael is a patient at [info]amplified_rpg. I have no connection to Jason Sthatam, I mearly chose his image for the part of Pops (James Connelly). I aslo have no connection with the Marines, the 11th Battilon, or the Iraqi war (other than I am an American and support our troops whole heartedly). I have no knowledge of a POW camp like the one described in this profile. I am a poor, broke college student...don't sue me.
